A bond is a lump sum investment that can provide you with capital growth potential or an income over the medium to long-term, typically a period of at least five years. Your money buys units in your chosen fund(s). You can decide whether to allow any investment growth to remain within the bond or to take a regular income by making withdrawals.
Investment bonds may not include any kind of guarantee and therefore where they don't there is a risk that you can lose money. The level of risk will depend upon the fund(s) that you invest in and the length of time that your money is invested (usually the longer the better).
